Tim Butler
ReStore Volunteer and Construction Crew Leader
Tim commits his time to the mission of Knoxville Habitat two days a week, every week, by serving in both the ReStore and out on the build site. For the past 13 years, Tim has devoted his Saturdays to volunteering as a construction crew leader. In this role, he has taught and lead thousands of volunteers through various tasks on Habitat build sites. Two years ago, he extended his dedication to Habitat by taking on the important role of testing and repairing appliances at the Knoxville Habitat ReStore.
Volunteering is a rewarding and meaningful experience for Tim. He enjoys that “you can see the results of your efforts.” After meeting the families and seeing their finished home, he feels good knowing that he helped make that possible for a local, Knoxville family. Volunteering at the ReStore gives Tim a way to put his knowledge from a job at Whirlpool to good use for a greater cause, saying “There’s a need and I have the knowledge.” Tim also says that volunteering with Knoxville Habitat is a way to “connect you back to the people” that you’re helping.
Because of his service in the Navy, Tim loves knowing that Knoxville Habitat is a Veterans Build Affiliate. Through this affiliation with Habitat for Humanity International, Knoxville Habitat is part of a national effort to not only provide affordable and decent homes for men and women who have served, but also join a larger voice in advocating for the needs of our veterans and their families.
As a Veterans Build Affiliate, Knoxville Habitat is committed to seeking engagement from more outstanding Veteran volunteers, like Tim, as well as recruiting veterans for employment, internships and other service opportunities.
