Tiarra is a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant and single mother raising eleven-year-old Donnaisha and seven-year-old Reianna. Little Reianna is a tomboy that is interested in running track, while Donnaisha is a “girly-girl” that loves cute clothes, painting her nails and hanging out with friends.
Tiarra is working hard to be able to build a home for her daughters, an achievement she has been determined to accomplish on her own despite tragic loss. About six years ago, the girls suddenly lost their father to a heart attack. He was only 30 years old. It was an unexpected shock to this young family that left Tiarra alone to raise and support her children.
Now, Tiarra and her children live in a small, two-bedroom apartment. Now that Donnaisha is getting older, Tiarra is discovering the importance of each girl being able to have her own privacy, space and her own bedroom.
She says, “Right now, it just feels so crowded … With my kids getting older, they just deserve their own space.”
Tiarra says owning her own home will mean “everything” to her family. The girls keep asking questions about their future home with excitement. It will change their lives in so many ways, from how they live inside to how they play outside.
“Right now, (Reianna) can only ride her bike up and down the sidewalk. Now she’ll be able to ride more.”
