Help more families be safer at home this winter!
Try to imagine… You’re an essential worker trying to protect your medically fragile child in an overcrowded rental. How will you cope if you or another family member brings COVID-19 home?
This real-life situation is just a sample of the challenges faced by the families we serve. Many are led by single parents, most of whom are essential workers, financially trapped in unsafe, substandard housing. In a global pandemic, they are clearly not “safer at home,” and without your help, they have nowhere else to go. When you make a gift today, you move more Knoxville families out of danger and into stable and affordable housing. Will you commit to help more moms and dads build and buy their own home, where they can keep their children safe and healthy for the duration of the pandemic and beyond?
It is only because of supporters like you that more than 700 Knoxville Habitat families truly are “safer at home.” They, and I, are so grateful for you and for this caring and giving community we all call home.
But two families need you right now.
Last month, COVID’s business impacts forced more of our Covenant Partners to withdraw their support. With the loss of Partner funding, which covers the initial construction costs for each home, two upcoming builds are at risk. Two qualified, deserving families are heartbreaking close to realizing their dream of homeowership, and these funding cancellations mean delays of several months, if not longer.
Please consider making a gift today or join HopeBuilders and make a convenient donation each month. You will help us cover this funding gap and provide a hand up, not a handout, for those who need it most.
In hope and praying for our future,
Kelle Shultz | President/CEO
P.S. Cold weather means extra challenges for struggling and at-risk families. Please give what you can now to make two waiting families “safer at home” by winter.
