Construction

Construction is one of the most visible and popular ways that our volunteers give of their time to Knoxville Habitat for Humanity. While construction volunteers are often provided through sponsorship arrangements, we’re always looking for individuals and groups to take part. Construction volunteer roles include:

  • House Leaders (requires previous experience): House leaders help oversee all aspects of the building process and work with inexperienced construction volunteers to provide instruction and leadership.
  • Crew Leaders (experience preferred but not necessary, training available): Assigned to a specific task of the building process, crew leaders have the main responsibility of teaching and leading volunteers to compete tasks according to schedule.

The following opportunities are available for individuals as well as groups, and no experience is necessary:

  • Construction Volunteers: Choose from framing, roofing, siding, painting, finish (cabinets and trim) and job site cleanup.

Tuesday/Thursday Crew: Existing Tuesday/Thursday Crew members, click HERE for latest scheduling and location information. These dedicated groups, consisting of electrical, paint, carpentry and warehouse crews, assist our construction staff on the job site or in our warehouse during the week (volunteers work as their schedules permit).
