Estate Planning

Legacy gifts provide lasting support.

A planned gift helps you plan your estate and charitable giving in a way that benefits you, your family and Knoxville Habitat for Humanity. There are many ways you can make a planned gift, and the two most common are:

  • Bequest
  • Beneficiary Designation

A bequest through your will can help you reduce estate taxes and ensure that Knoxville Habitat has the resources to prepare families for homeownership, purchase land, and build affordable homes with hardworking families.

A charitable bequest through your will is as easy as including this language: “I {name}, of {city, state} give, devise and bequeath to Knoxville Habitat for Humanity (EIN 58-1727980) located at 1501 Washington Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37917, the following: {written dollar amount or percentage of the estate, or written description of property*} for its unrestricted use and purpose.”

It is easy to designate Knoxville Habitat as a beneficiary of assets such as bank accounts, retirement accounts or life insurance policies. You simply complete a form that is entirely separate from your will – which makes this approach a very easy way to give. Plus, beneficiary designations are flexible. You are not locked into the choice, and they can be reviewed, revised and adjusted anytime you want.

Your estate gift to Knoxville Habitat will continue to build strength, stability and self-reliance with hardworking families for generations to come.
